Why I Started This Site

When I bought my first house in 2009, I put a hammer through the wall within a week. Not on purpose. I was trying to hang a picture. The hole was about 4 inches across and I had no idea what to do next.

The YouTube videos made it look easy. The hardware store guy sold me a $12 patch kit. Three hours later, I had a bumpy mess that looked worse than the original hole.

Fifteen years and probably 200 repairs later, I've finally figured out what actually works. This site is everything I wish someone had told me when I was staring at that first hole in my wall, patch kit in hand, wondering what I'd gotten myself into.

What You'll Find Here

Real answers to real drywall questions. Not the contractor version that assumes you have $500 worth of tools. The homeowner version, where you're working with a putty knife from the dollar store and hoping for the best.

I cover repairs (the reason most people end up here), installation (for the brave souls tackling a basement or garage), finishing (the hard part nobody warns you about), and textures (because smooth walls aren't always the goal).

Every guide comes from personal experience. If I tell you something works, it's because I've done it. If I warn you about a mistake, it's because I made it first.
